Welcome to the pod Casey Keen, MS — a powerhouse who took her experience with birth trauma and resulting postpartum survival mode into a book, a business and she hopes, a movement to help other mothers.

Casey’s book is available at all booksellers in print and digital copies

Birth trauma makes postpartum significantly more challenging. The spectrum of trauma is something I personally have beared witness to in the years of working with patients postpartum.

Infant feeding challenges can compound challenges and make postpartum truly feel like something to survive. Although the answer is as complex as the problem, we know here on Syrup of Ipecac that the infrastructure of perinatal care deserves examination.

My beloved New Jersey has led the way in screening for perinatal mood disorders since the 2000s, check out where your state is in the link above!
