Thinking this evening about a new sweet baby whose birth was not what her parents and grandparents pictured or planned for, whose initial breastfeeding experiences have been somewhat challenging despite excellent, round the clock lactation care.

A baby who is showing signs of physical, bodily tension, whose mouth is not relaxed and moving easily but chomping at the breast, who seems to be fighting any attempts to position her “better” at the breast. There’s no visible alignment of the body when she feeds.
