10 Years in the Making…
I wrote a book about early lactation care.
You can buy it now right here.
(I really did start with paper and a pen.)
10 years ago when I first conceived the concept of The First 100 Hours, I was sitting in my backyard in a different house in a different town.
A “workday” for me then was in scrubs at a local hospital where 300+ babies were born every month.
This past week, I finished the book in my backyard in a new house in a new town.
My workdays are spent here in this new house, and I spend a lot of time talking to and working with new mothers and other IBCLCs on the phone and through my laptop.
One thing that has not changed: breastfeeding is a reliable way of feeding a baby.
And another thing: confidence in breastfeeding comes from breastfeeding.
I know it seems so obvious, but think about it: if the earliest hours and days of breastfeeding become complicated and fear takes over, mothers often stop breastfeeding.
If everyone around them is nervous about breastfeeding, it erodes their confidence, too.
If no one else trusts breastfeeding, how can they be expected to trust it?
Let's rebuild trust in breastfeeding.
It's that simple.
That's really what my book is about.
It's called Evolving the Modern Breastfeeding Experience: Holistic Lactation Care in the First 100 Hours.
I know that if you're here on this journey with me, you likely understand that in your core.
But there are so many others out there who do not.
We will need to share this book as widely as we can and spread the word that breastfeeding is a trustworthy, reliable way of feeding a baby.
I hope you will help me with sharing it.
Breastfeeding is simple. Structural barriers make it complicated.
The book that has been on my heart for 10 years is now available in the Amazon store.
Here's a link.
You can buy it now in Kindle, paperback, or hardcover.😍
I just couldn't wait one more second to share the link with you.
Here's something special I've done for the book: I created forms and worksheets that lactation care providers can use to apply the First 100 Hours approach in their work. There are images of the forms in the book, but you can also download PDFs from my website.
Thank you for ALL you do for mothers, babies, and families,
Congratulations! Definitely ordering :)
So proud of you! You did it! You must be going through so many emotions❤️
Can’t wait to read it.
