Well that’s depressing. I get it. How do we fight this beast? I feel like we are doing little bits of damage against the formula industry beast by offering prenatal breastfeeding classes, education to empower people to breastfeed, promoting breastfeeding, boycotting violators of the WHO code, supporting the WHO code. It’s our way to help validate/shield what we do. But the formula beast damages harder.

You're right - it can feel like we are swimming upstream. That's because we are swimming upstream in an ocean of commercial marketing that tells people that breastfeeding is expendable. But that's kind of why we chose to get into this field, right? We have hope. We are hopeful people. We do all the "little" things that we can think of to help every single ONE of the mothers who appear before us. Sometimes we're in a part of our career where all of our work is focused on just that - serving individual mothers and families. Other times, we find ourselves energized and find more time and space to advocate in more broad ways. Wherever you are, your efforts matter. We are all part of a larger effort to make it all better!
